Librarians Book Care Tips |
|
Eatons Hill State School Library offers Middle and
Upper Years students training as Library Assistants and Student
Librarians. |
|
Assistants help other Library patrons by doing many jobs such as operating the circulation computer, processing returns, shelving and storytelling.
|
|
Library Assistants are always
-
Kind
-
Proud
-
Safe
-
Considerate
|
|
They also have fun! |
|
To begin training as a Library Assistant, a student
must complete and submit an application form. |
| Get your Application Form here! Print it out and apply now. |
|
Once the application is accepted (and depending on how
many applicants want to begin training), each trainee is provided with a
book which outlines tasks and expectations. |
|
Trainees can choose when to come and help in the
Library, but are asked to be present when they have committed to be there.
A roster is used to ensure popular (and unpopular) tasks are equitably
shared. |
All applicants should attend Library
Assistants' Meetings which are held at second break each Tuesday.
Everyone meets outside the Library immediately after class is out and eats
in the waiting area.
Meetings vary - sometimes games feature and at other times we learn about
Library routines and book care. |
|
When a trainee has completed all the tasks outlined in
her/his booklet, a certificate is prepared and that, and a badge are
presented at Gathering. |
| After receiving this badge, an Assistant is welcome
to advance to Student Librarian training. This includes levels of
higher responsibility
ranging from organizing rosters, mentoring and helping select books for the
collection. |
|
Students who wish to become
Student Librarians must apply. The Application
