Purple's Science Page

Term 2 and 3 we talked about the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.

It is endangered and we need to do something now.

Mrs Bennett gave Mrs Hale a Birdwing Vine and we looked after it for a while until it started to grow new leaves. We wrote letters to Mr Campbell, Mrs Wade, and Mr Pryde to ask permission to plant the vine in the school. They all said yes.

A Richmond Birdwing Butterfly colony needs at least 5 vines to live.

We planted our vine near the library, next to another Birdwing Vine.

We water it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a watering can from Mrs Wade.

We also water some other plants in the same garden.

We did get dirty!!

During Term 3 we talked about every action has a consequence.

We arranged dominoes first in a straight pattern, and pushed the first domino over.

We watched as each domino fell. It went very fast.

Next we made many different patterns with the dominoes and watched them.

Sometimes we'd have to make adjustments to make all the dominoes fall over.

This is what happens in nuclear power.

Each part affects the parts around them.
